A trip in spring 2004 to the German island Rügen located in the Baltic sea: Rügen is well known for its chalk cliffs that inspired Caspar David Friedrich for some famous paintings such as “Chalk Cliffs on Rügen”. On February 24, 2005, the two peaks of a popular formation of the chalk cliffs, the Wissower Klinken (picture see below) slithered into the sea.
At the coast, there are some lovely seaside resorts (Binz, Sellin and Göhren) that impress by their restored seaside villas spanning the coastal promenades. These and a trip at the rate of 35 kilometers in the steam engine “Rasender Roland” makes you believe that you live in the aristocratic, early 20th century!
